Creating a space where religion and queerness co-exist. Photographing people who have influenced my spiritual perspective and self-portraiture to embody my queer identity. My aim is to create visibility and acceptance for queer people who feel proximity to religion and spirituality. There are constant political debates surrounding the validity of queer identities often done in the name of religion. My work aims to combat these damaging conversations by visually merging religious and queer imagery.
As a queer person, I have felt the effects of dehumanising political debates. My intentions in this project are to create visibility for queer people from all backgrounds as well as showcase the beauty of my culture. I hope to make an impact on keeping minds open and allowing queer people to simply exist.
