These images were made during my time in Gujarat. They depict family and places we visited. The name Bougainvillaea is because these flowers were introduced to India during the British colonial period and are often a sign of colonial landscaping. This speaks to my perspective and conditioning as a British Indian. Is my lens colonial because I was brought up in the coloniser’s land? How do I decolonise my lens?
